Ban Na Than Dec 2024:
So, this is how it all started 4 years ago with holes being dug and a mountain of steel reinforced concrete. Inevitable this is accompanied by a celebration and gifts to the Gods. The local villagers then all troop around and throw coins into the foundations to wish prosperity and good luck.
Rin was up at 5:00am this morning with her sister to provide the mountains of food that inevitable accompany these events.
This particular house is apparently being built by another "Falang" (foreigner) - he is French, married to a local Thai girl, they have three daughters and live in Phuket where he has a successful French patisserie business.
We attended another house warming party on Saturday, this time a pilot for Virgin Australia living in Melbourne. So this part of the world is becoming increasingly popular for precisely the type of lifestyle that suits me. And, 4 years on, when you see what Rin has managed here, you can see why.
Sitting last night just pondering, as one does, about gratitude - not a particularly English sentiment, but very apt here!
